Why Local Homeowners Choose Nu-Air
Choosing the right team for your air conditioning installation is just as important as choosing the system itself. A properly sized and professionally installed unit can improve comfort, reliability, and efficiency for years to come. Homeowners across the parish rely on us because they want a local HVAC team they can trust—not a rotating crew of unfamiliar technicians.
Nu-Air Heating & Cooling, LLC was founded in 2016 by a Navy veteran with over 20 years of HVAC experience. That background influences how we operate every day, from how we train technicians to how we communicate with customers. We arrive prepared, respect your time, and clearly explain each step so you always know what is happening.
Our technicians hold North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification, a respected standard in the HVAC industry. When Repair Is Not Enough
It is common to start with repairs when an air conditioner acts up. Over time, however, repeat service calls and rising energy bills can add up to more than a new unit would cost. In our long cooling season, older systems in St. Tammany Parish often run many hours each day, which can accelerate wear and make replacement a practical choice.
Several factors typically guide the repair versus replace decision. Age is a major one. If your system is well past its expected service life and needs expensive parts, investing more into it may not make sense. Frequent breakdowns, uneven temperatures from room to room, and poor humidity control are also signs that your existing equipment is struggling to keep up.
Energy costs give another important clue. When an older unit runs longer and longer to maintain the same temperature, monthly bills tend to rise. At that point, upgrading to a more efficient air conditioner can help manage operating costs over time. During our visit, we look at your system’s age, condition, and performance and talk through what you have been experiencing, then we explain whether air conditioning replacement St. Tammany Parish is likely to serve you better than another repair.
We do not recommend the same solution for everyone. Our technicians evaluate the whole picture, including ductwork, airflow, and how your family uses each room. If a repair is reasonable and your system still has useful life left, we explain that. If replacement is the smarter financial move, we outline why and show you different levels of equipment so you can compare.
Common signs it may be time to replace instead of repair include:
- AC is more than a decade old and has needed major work in recent years
- Rooms never feel truly comfortable, even after multiple service visits
- Energy bills have climbed compared to past summers with similar usage
- The system is noisy, short cycles, or struggles to control humidity
- You are planning to stay in your home and want more reliable comfort
Our goal is to help you avoid wasting money on a system that is nearing the end of its life. By understanding your options clearly, you can decide when the time is right for a new unit.
Our AC Installation & Replacement Process
Once you decide to explore a new air conditioner, knowing what will happen next can make the process feel much easier. We follow a consistent, step by step approach so you always know where things stand, from the first phone call through final startup and beyond.
It usually starts with a conversation about what you are experiencing and what matters most to you. We schedule a convenient time to visit your home or light commercial space. During this visit, our technician listens to your comfort concerns, checks your current equipment, and looks at factors such as insulation, windows, and ductwork that affect cooling needs in this part of Louisiana.
The next step is to size the system properly. Rather than guessing based on square footage alone, we consider how your space is built and used. Our team explains efficiency ratings and different types of systems in clear language. You will learn how each option might affect comfort, noise levels, and potential energy use, without getting buried in technical terms.
After the assessment, we prepare a free estimate for your replacement equipment. This estimate outlines the recommended system, any related work such as minor duct adjustments if needed, and what is included in our price. We review it with you, answer questions, and adjust options if you want to look at different efficiency levels or features.
When you are ready to move forward, we schedule the AC work on a day that fits your routine. On installation day, our team arrives on time, protects floors and work areas, and carefully removes the old unit. We set the new equipment, connect refrigerant and electrical lines according to best practices, and take time to check airflow and controls before we leave.
Our typical AC installation and replacement steps include:
- Initial call, scheduling, and on site evaluation of your current system
- Sizing and system recommendation based on your home and comfort goals
- Free written estimate and discussion of equipment choices and pricing
- Professional removal of old equipment and installation of the new unit
- Startup, testing, thermostat setup, and review of basic operation with you
Before we finish, we walk you through how to use your new thermostat, discuss any warranty information provided by the manufacturer, and answer any remaining questions. We leave your space as clean as we found it. If you would like, we also talk about maintenance options so your new system is cared for in the years ahead.
Comfort, Efficiency & Long Term Support
A new air conditioner is more than a piece of equipment. It is an investment in how your home feels throughout long, humid seasons along the Northshore. Proper sizing, quality components, and careful installation all work together to help keep rooms comfortable and humidity levels more manageable.
Our team works to balance upfront cost with long term operation. Higher efficiency systems can reduce energy use compared to older units, especially in a place that relies on cooling for much of the year. During our estimate, we explain how different efficiency ratings and features could affect your monthly bills, so you can decide how to invest based on your budget and plans.
Once your new system is in place, regular care plays a big role in how long it will serve you. We offer customized maintenance plans that match how your system is used. These plans focus on tasks such as checking refrigerant levels, cleaning coils, inspecting electrical components, and confirming that condensate drains are clear. The goal is to help catch small issues early and support efficient operation.
Our technicians are also trained to recognize signs of poor workmanship from previous installations. When we encounter undersized ductwork, incorrect refrigerant charging, or other issues during a replacement project, we explain what we find and how addressing it can help your new system perform better. This attention to detail supports both comfort and reliability.
We view every installation as the start of a long relationship, not the end of a job. Many of our customers call us again for seasonal tune ups and occasional repairs on other equipment in their home or business. By staying connected, we can help your new AC continue to run smoothly for years.

“Edgar is fantastic! He has been taking care of my family's heating and cooling needs for years. I am not an easy customer, as I am very particular with how I expect things to be done. Edgar continues to exceed my expectations! Today he performed the seasonal maintenance for both the upstairs and downstairs units. In addition, he installed the REME-HALO Advanced Environmental Air Treatment System on both units. Edgar recommended this to us, as we have two dogs, two cats, and a rabbit (a lot of paws per square inch in our CBD residence)... The installation was very clean and seamless. The condo already smells better/cleaner (no pet odor at all), and my son's allergies seem much better (no sneezing, no coughing)... Edgar even took the time to register the purchase with the manufacturer to satisfy the warranty requirements. That is service above and beyond! Extremely profession, knows his craft, and always honest... Please do not hesitate to message me, should you require more detailed information. I highly recommend NU-Air Heating and Cooling!”Michael B.

Customer for life...thank you.”Dana H.

“I am a meticulous DIY handyman myself and I was completely satisfied with the work that Edgar did for me. He replaced the evaporator coil, transition, plenum box and first 25 ft of duct for the ground floor system. He also lined (and sealed) the return air passage. While he made several work scope additions during the job, Edgar made no attempt to increase the agreed upon price. Edgar approached my project as if he was working on his own system. I highly recommend this HVAC contractor.”Marvin

“Edgar, the owner, came out originally to diagnose one of my A/C units not working. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a damaged circuit board, which he was able to retrieve from his supplier and replace within a couple of hours. However, while examining the unit, he found that the evaporator coil was leaking. He recommended replacing it, and said he could come out in a couple of days to do that job. In the quote he provided, he included a free charge of freon to the system to get through the next couple of days as long as we used him to replace the coil. In the meantime, I checked pricing from another HVAC company, and it was slightly less than Edgar's quote. Edgar showed up with an assistant on Thursday morning as promised and had the new coil in within about 3 hours. I was very pleased with the work and professionalism.”John W.

“When he first arrived, he was able give me a quote for a broken coil and added some Freon to the system as a quick fix. The quote he gave was half the price I'd previously been quoted. On top of that, the other company didn't even bother to temporarily fixing the issue, which was a big deal because air conditioning is all about comfort.”Ronnie
