Finally, after 4 years of dealing with incompetent air conditioner repairmen I have found a truly knowledgeable technician in Edgar Mejia, owner of Nu-Air Air Conditioning Repair. From the very first season I had the 5-ton Rudd unit installed I have been dealing with seasonal issues. In the summer the unit would require a dose of Freon to in order to moderately keep the house cool. In winter the unit would heat the house to the desired setting, the heat pump would shut down, the fan, designed to purge any remaining warm air, would continue to run and run and run, until finally it was blowing cold air which dropped the temperature so that the heat pump would reengage. This never-ending cycle that could only be stopped by lowering the thermostat setting until house temperature was so low that a jacket was required.
Previous repairmen diagnosed the low Freon as a system leak that they never found but were happy to provide a shot of Freon to the tune of about 300 dollars. As to the fan cycling problem, I questioned previous repairmen if there was not a program setting that could be adjusted so as to decrease the fan cycle time; the answer was always negative. On his first visit Edgar found the Freon leak, obtained the needed parts under warranty and made the repairs. To define the fan cycle problem, we had to wait on a cool spell but Edgar returned as soon as one hit, got on line, found the program to reset the thermostat and installed the needed program change. This correction was so effective that my electricity bill was cut in half from its historical high for that month. In today’s world of part changers and unskilled repairmen Edgar is truly a dedicated and rare find. I almost hate to praise him so highly because it will result in more customers requiring his service but his repair knowledge and work ethic would have resulted in that anyway.
