Maximize Your Warranty; Call Nu-Air Heating & Cooling
A new HVAC system is a huge investment in your home, and as with any other huge investment, you’d like peace of mind of knowing it’s protected for at least the next little while. This is why new HVAC systems come with a warranty. A warranty is a system’s manufacturer saying that they stand by the quality of their product and will back it up by paying for any repairs or defects that emerge within a given time period.
However, warranties also require a few things on your end, and these things can become pain points for buyers who don’t recognize their responsibilities. At Nu-Air Heating & Cooling, we work with you to not only install your new system, but ease these pain points and make sure you know exactly what’s expected and required of you if you want to make a warranty claim for a defect in your new system. We’re committed to providing the best service around, and that includes working with you on your warranty to ensure it’s properly obtained and then claims are correctly filed should you ever need to file one.
Here are a few of the most common pain points we can help you with:
Warranty Length
A new system is usually only covered under warranty if it’s purchased all at once. Installing a new heat pump alone or a new compressor alone isn’t usually covered under warranty because the manufacturer doesn’t know what type of system you’re using it with. Likewise, new systems are typically covered for five years from the date of manufacturing, not the date of installation.
That being said, for many brands, if you choose to have your system installed by a licensed technician or preferred installer, then many will extend that warranty to be 10 years from the date of installation. This more than doubles your protection time.
Warranty Registration
In order to extend your warranty, you’ll need to register your new system with the manufacturer. Registration usually includes your contact info, the date of the installation, who installed the system, and several other pieces of information. The registration goes on file and is referred to when you go to make a warranty claim.
You have only 90 days to register your new unit after the installation is completed. Failing to do so will void the 10 year warranty and default you back to the five-year option. At Nu-Air Heating & Cooling, we help you with your paperwork and make sure that your system is registered properly after installation in order to ensure you receive the maximum warranty protection.
Warranty Requirements
Warranties also require you to stick to a number of requirements in order to remain valid. For starters, most warranties require you to have your system properly maintained by a licensed HVAC contractor in Mandeville in order to remain valid. When you go to file a claim, your manufacturer may request that you send copies of your maintenance records along with the claim to ensure you followed this requirement.

“I am a meticulous DIY handyman myself and I was completely satisfied with the work that Edgar did for me. He replaced the evaporator coil, transition, plenum box and first 25 ft of duct for the ground floor system. He also lined (and sealed) the return air passage. While he made several work scope additions during the job, Edgar made no attempt to increase the agreed upon price. Edgar approached my project as if he was working on his own system. I highly recommend this HVAC contractor.”Marvin
-
“I have an emergency outage. Edgar came right away. He diagnosed the problem and got us working in less than an hour, while testing the system to make sure there were no other issues. Excellent! Thanks again!”Mike
