HVAC Service FAQs
How often should I schedule maintenance for my HVAC system?
Most manufacturers recommend having your system checked at least once a year, and many homeowners choose a visit in the spring and another in the fall. Regular maintenance can help catch small issues before they become major breakdowns and may improve efficiency. It also gives you a clear picture of your system's condition so you can plan for future needs.
What size HVAC system does my home need?
Proper sizing depends on more than square footage. Factors like insulation, window quality, sun exposure, and how you use each room all matter. During a visit, we can evaluate these details and recommend equipment capacity that matches your home's needs instead of relying on rough rules of thumb.
Why are some rooms in my house always hotter or colder?
Uneven temperatures often point to airflow or ductwork issues, not just equipment problems. Duct leaks, poor layout, blocked vents, and undersized returns can all cause hot and cold spots. We can test your system, look at how air moves through your home, and suggest targeted improvements that address the actual cause.
How long does a typical HVAC system last?
Many systems last around 10 to 15 years, although actual lifespan varies based on maintenance, usage, and installation quality. Systems that receive regular care and were installed correctly often perform better for longer. During maintenance visits, we can give you a realistic sense of how much useful life your current equipment may have left.
Will a new HVAC system lower my energy bills?
Newer systems are generally more efficient than older models, so many homeowners do see lower energy use after a thoughtful replacement. The actual impact depends on your current equipment, ductwork, insulation, and thermostat settings. When we discuss replacement, we can estimate potential savings and help you weigh them against the cost of a new system.

“Finally, after 4 years of dealing with incompetent air conditioner repairmen I have found a truly knowledgeable technician in Edgar Mejia, owner of Nu-Air Air Conditioning Repair.”George H.
-
“A true professional in our industry. The representative is knowledgeable, informative, and a pleasure to do business with.”Mark

“I am a meticulous DIY handyman myself and I was completely satisfied with the work that Edgar did for me. He replaced the evaporator coil, transition, plenum box and first 25 ft of duct for the ground floor system. He also lined (and sealed) the return air passage. While he made several work scope additions during the job, Edgar made no attempt to increase the agreed upon price. Edgar approached my project as if he was working on his own system. I highly recommend this HVAC contractor.”Marvin

“As a single mom, one of my biggest worries is being taken advantage of when it comes to home repairs that I know NOTHING about. Edgar is possibly the most honest and knowledgeable professional I have ever met. He not only came the same day I contacted him, but he quickly diagnosed the problem with superior knowledge and skill, and assured me that I did not need a new AC unit when I was convinced I did (and ready to shell out thousands of dollars to replace the whole unit!). I won't even consider using anyone else in the future. The charge for his services were beyond reasonable -- and far less than I've ever been charged in the past. Edgar is the kind of man that makes the world a better place. He made me a lifetime loyal customer in one visit.”CMB

“Edgar, the owner, came out originally to diagnose one of my A/C units not working. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a damaged circuit board, which he was able to retrieve from his supplier and replace within a couple of hours. However, while examining the unit, he found that the evaporator coil was leaking. He recommended replacing it, and said he could come out in a couple of days to do that job. In the quote he provided, he included a free charge of freon to the system to get through the next couple of days as long as we used him to replace the coil. In the meantime, I checked pricing from another HVAC company, and it was slightly less than Edgar's quote. Edgar showed up with an assistant on Thursday morning as promised and had the new coil in within about 3 hours. I was very pleased with the work and professionalism.”John W.

“Edgar and crew installed a new electric panel at my house, they also moved a/c return and a few other things. They are reliable, the work was done when promised and they cleaned up the work area and even swept my floor. Thanks for the great work.”Lorena

“Have used other services and this one is far above the rest”Bea D.

“I have an emergency outage. Edgar came right away. He diagnosed the problem and got us working in less than an hour, while testing the system to make sure there were no other issues. Excellent! Thanks again!”Mike
